Before writing this review I must disclose that I’m one of the BETA testers of Affiliate Genie software. I received test copy just 3 days before the initial release date of December 2, 2009. So I had to test AffGenie in a hurry and found some critical bugs and problems; I immediately reported to Chris Rampel.
Ultimately Chris postponed release date to December 8 to fix critical bugs and release well-polished version. (There was ClickBank approval problem too)
This is a long review, so I had to divide it into sections.

The Biggest Question: WordPress V/s Affiliate Genie – Is Affiliate Genie Better Than WordPress?
I don’t agree! I’ve been doing Internet Marketing and Affiliate marketing for almost 7 years and been using WordPress for more than 4 years. I have used WordPress version 1.2 and I’m still a big fan of WP. Perhaps, WordPress would be my favorite site builder forever.
So my point is Affiliate Genie is definitely not better than WordPress if you are a Pro user…but it’s an ideal alternative to it. Don’t use AffGenie if you are planning to build a website with 100’s of pages. Use WP or any other CMS software to build MEGA authority sites like ReviewBoss.com
What is Affiliate Genie & how does it work?
I don’t want to bore you with huge list of Aff-Genie features. If you don’t know its features, or never heard of Affiliate Genie earlier then I suggest you to visit the official website and read the sales letter carefully.

Aff Genie- Quick Overview
Affiliate Genie has a single objective – Build a money making affiliate website with minimum skills…and that’s all… Even if you are a beginner you can learn features and usage of Affiliate Genie within 30 minutes (one hour max)
Uploading the script, installing it and customizing “site settings” are very simple and straight forward. In fact, there is nothing to install, no database setup at all.
Just upload the script >>Login to admin panel >>Set the site preferences like site name, description and color scheme (if you wish to change) >>Then simply start adding content!
Though Aff-Genie is not comparable software to WordPress, it has the “most important” features.
- Built in RSS Feed Generator: This is a must have feature for fast indexing and content syndication.
- Built-in-XML sitemap generator: Again helps search engine crawlers for better indexing.
- Commenting & rating system: Now, this is again very important. People love what others have to say about a particular product. It also helps your site to grow naturally with fresh content. The commenting system has built-in anti-spam feature; further all comments can be moderated from admin panel.
- Though its in-built SEO features are not “the best”, it’s decent enough to get a site ranked well.
- It can be installed on almost all Unix based Apache servers or server which supports PHP. Almost 99% webhosts support this.
- If you are a PPC advertiser with say, Google Adwords you can create perfectly optimized landing pages with Aff-Genie.
The biggest advantage of this tool is, even if you are a beginner you can compete with advanced marketers. You have to be an advanced user of WordPress if you want to compete with WordPress- Pros like me!
Don't believe what gurus say!
Now, some faking experts & Gurus will tell you to build a site with WordPress. They will tell you things like install wordpress >> Get a beautiful looking theme from here>> install these 3 plugins and start publishing content >>> and you’ll have a money making website.
In reality, it doesn’t work like that. You have to dig deeper; you have to customize WordPress for maximum benefit because WordPress is mere a Blogging tool. It’s not created for Internet or affiliate marketers. Marketers are just using (and abusing) it for their advantage!
On the other hand Affiliate Genie is specifically created for Internet marketers, especially keeping affiliate marketers in mind by a team of expert affiliate marketers.
The Downside & Negatives of Affiliate Genie:
Well, I certainly don’t want to sound like a salesman or “just another affiliate” without highlighting Aff-Genie’s negative points. You won’t have any problem if you haven’t built a website earlier. However, if you are a fan of WordPress like me then you’ll probably get disappointed with Affiliate Genie’s features.
- The current version does not support multiple-authors.
- It has no “administration” dash-board like WordPress.
- Does not support “future posts” – I mean post dated entries.
- Does not support any auto-blogging feature – I’m against it anyway.
- It has very minimum on-page SEO features.
- Currently there is only one template file though you can change colors. If you have basic CSS skills you can customize it completely.
I hope that upcoming versions of AffGenie will have some of the above mentioned features. However, these negative points are its positives too. More features means more complicated and more to learn.
The Biggest Question: Does It Leave Foot Print?
Yes, it leaves footprint. Apparently all the sites built with any software leave footprint. There are millions of websites built with WordPress and they all leave footprint!
The question of “foot print” really does not arise if you build a quality website with unique content. You should only worry if you use some automatic site builder with scrapped content which is termed as “gray-hat” and “black-hat”.
Is Affiliate Genie a Scam?
Well, I don’t know how to define a scam here. The software does and delivers what it promises. It comes with video tutorials and other important documentation. The cost is really affordable. Just one time investment to install it on multiple website. There is no pro-version or up-sells. But it’s a SCAM because you have to pay $97!

Chris Rampel , the creator of Affiliate Genie is popularly known as "Lazy marketer" after he released his affiliate guide "Confession of a Lazy super affiliate" 3 years ago. Wealth affiliate's Site Rubix is a web based static site builder which is ideal for micro-website or PPC landing page creation. Affiliate genie is a web based dynamic site builder…meaning once you upload the software there is nothing to upload again. If you use Site Rubix you have to use their online FTP to transfer files to your host whenever you edit or publish new content. I'll publish a detailed comparison when I get time

Being an affiliate marketer myself I do not want to rip another hard working affiliate marketer's commission. There are many affiliates who promote IM related products for living. Sitebot/Sitebot Pro was released a couple of weeks ago. I was reluctant to purchase it as it is a paypal purchase but after reading the 60 day guarantee decided to give it a shot. After purchasing you get the upsale big time and quickly realize what you get for the initial purchase is a serious handicap unless you take the upsale. After 3 emails starting last week still NO REFUND, not even an email from a live person, just the standard auto generated email. DON'T buy this product unless you are ready to spend a lot of cash monthly when you take the upsale.

Thank you for the review. I have bought it yesterday and there are some real nasty bugs in it that need to be solved. Of course that can happen. Anyway I just put up a couple of pages for trying things out and not promoting anything at all, but I allready have had visitors. I find that real quick.
Also I see many possibilities, for example to make membershipsites. I disagree that you couldn't make a website with hundreds of pages with this software. Why not?
It's also easy to transfer an existing site [ if you sell ] to another server. Easier than wordpress.
Finally I believe static html has advantages over blogs in the seo department.
You can create 100 pages or 1000 pages, because creating pages are so easy with AG. But the current version does not have the navigation menu control… meaning, if you add 100 articles all those 100 articles will appear on your navigation menu. Now assume your site with 100's of links on navigation… Is that is what you want to show to your visitors and search engine robots?
So, right now if you build a site with more than 40-50 pages then your site will lose "the purpose" and you are simply distracting your visitors. (Plus you'll lose amazing SEO power of AG too)
For BIG sites we need category level archives like wordpress.
Of course, I can create a plug-in which would solve the issue; but I don't want to have ass to ass competition with Chris & AG team. They should implement this feature in the upcoming version. Because it's one of the fundamental feature we need without a plugin when the site grows.
The current version itself offers dozen's benefits. So I'm thinking of a Plugin which will convert WordPress blogs into AG site with just few clicks!
Great explanation reviewboss. You really know your stuff. Unfortunately I already bought my copy of AG before I ended up on this website. So I miss the plugins. Well…I can only hope that Chris and his team get inspired by what you come up with here. AG as it is now certainly can do with an update. But it's all still so new…it needs time.

I just found your site and what a solid review. I have been using Affiliate Genie for a while now and I was wondering if you think they will release some sort of plug in like an opt in form for collecting email addresses?
That would be really handy to have as an option in the software package especially for affiliate marketers.
In the preferences section you could have an option for what pages you wanted to show your opt in form on and options for where it showed up on the page.
I’m also in a similar boat to Neon, I read your other article and I would really like to check out the Niche domination report but I already bought AG through a different site

Also, have you thought about creating something that allows for post dating content? I like to add all my content to a site at once and let one or two pages post a day until done. I was a bit bummed that Affiliate Genie doesn’t have this feature. It’s a pain to have to go to a site every other day or every week to add a few more pages of content.

There is no official page to buy the plugins. However, you can buy it by making paypal payment – email admin(at)reviewboss.com for details. Plugins are updated for latest AG version (AG 1.02) with better code for SEO…. all future updates will be free.
Post dated entries would be really nice. This is a core feature we should expect from the original developers. It can be done with PHP Cron jobs… but atleast 95% AG users won’t understand this cron job things! Since AG is very simple script, let’s don’t mess with cronjobs and other nasty stuffs…and it’s more complicated than what I thought. So I’m expecting better solution from the developers…maybe next update will have this feature
Just had to pop in and say thanks for the plugins. These are just the enhancements I needed. I’ve already added them to one of my sites and I’m very happy.
Being a total WordPress junkie, I can really appreciate your enhancements. After adding them to one site, I can already see that they’ll help me to set up all my Affiliate Genie sites in a manner that’s very similar to my WordPress blogs, especially when it comes to the placement of promos and title tag customization.

In fact, it’s actually easier to set up sites with Affiliate Genie than it is to install a WordPress® Blog – because you don’t need to set up a database! All you do is simply upload Affiliate Genie into your webspace, login to the admin page and set some preferences. Takes about 60 seconds, flat
I spent the better part of a 14 hour day trying to upload and troubleshoot the upload process. The last thing I wanted to do was to submit to my defeat and seek outside assistance for a task that takes most people “60 seconds, flat
” I surrendered!!!, but not to AG’s offer to do this for another $47.00. Why would they have an offer for install assistance that takes people “60 seconds flat”?. There must be other dummies out there like myself who will find it necessary to do so?
Please consider a revision to your list of downsides for this web builder to include that
1. there are some dummies out there who will need help and AG has found a great way to get another to get another $47.00
2. That you can expect a wait up to 2 days to get an answer to ANY technical question that may arise during the process.
Any referrals for out sourcing this task at a fair price would be greatly appreciated. I am excited to get beyond this hump and building my site!!!!
I was wrong and jumped the gun about AG and their service. I apologize that my apology/retraction wasn’t my first order of business last week . Shortly after Both Chris Rempel and Matthew Chitty realized I got lost in the system they both immediately addressed the issues that were delaying the uploads and stayed with me until my issue was resolved. Both they and you held my hand through the process.

Hi, Review Boss. I’m seriously thinking to buy AG. Especially for all your great bonuses.
I really like the clean look of the design and would love to use it for a hobby-related membership site as well as the sale of my own (and affiliate) products.
I have a couple of questions: How difficult would it be to turn an Affiliate Genie site into a kind of membership site? Would a content protection script be incorported easily?
For example, a site with a few pages of free content for all visitors; a sign-up form for a free report; a log-in form for paid/premium members that go to a protected directory of links to an updated list of lesson modules or content for download (or even videos to view).
I know that’s not the purpose of AG but I love its look for what I’m envisioning. As soon as I get your feedback I will be ready to act.

Hi Ina,
Your requirement is way beyond the scope of AG. It can be done. But not without heavy technical knowledge if you want to give individual user names. The easy solution is to create a sub-domain (like members.yoursite.com) using AG and password protect it. Meaning, you should install AG script twice on the same domain.
