Blockposters.com – Create Your Own Posters

I always wanted to create a wall posters of Al Pachino from the movie Scarface and I discovered that I can – in a Snap!
Block Posters is really a good concept as a web site and an amazing tool that allows you to upload any image, choose how many sheets wide you would like your poster to be and then print it at your own home.
I’ve never used this one, but it is a really great standalone for those of you who don’t like to install random crap on your computer that you’ll only use once.
Block posters may be able to handle mid size images even in better ways than any other program with a lot finer detail. I’ve printed a few posters with it and the quality is amazing (as long as the images are high-resolution).
Few days ago my friend and I made a 11′ x 13′ poster of Anna Kournikova for his bed room ceiling last year (used over 250 sheets of paper) in full color using the Rasterbator and it looked gorgeous.
I really liked the image on the example, which is from this Korean movie titled in the west: “Old Boy.” The movie is hard to find but it is very well directed.
Now here is the catch, the image will already have to be that size (or close) otherwise it’ll be stretched to all hell. Considering no pictures come this large and you have to use some extra ink.
When you’re trying to create a larger poster out of a smaller image, pixelation must happen. With some pictures it may create nice looking spaced dots instead of the ugly adjacent square pixels.
This way your poster poster look nice from upclose, although you’ll just see dots and wouldn’t figure out the whole picture except when you look at the poster from far.
More importantly it works nice and is not a web based app so you can let it run on your computer for a while for those extra large images that require processing time.
So the Scarface image, I made it for my room and it looks awesome! www.blockposters.com
