Downloading is not harmful, but you must download wares from legit websites.
At any given moment, there are many people who are downloading something or the other from websites they are familiar to or from a completely new website. When you download an [tag]application[/tag] , it may have spywares or even viruses that may infect your computer.
Does that mean that you would stop downloading from online sites? But you still have to be cautious of the website where you want to download the applications from. The inclusion of spyware is quite common, as it allows the software providers to make an income by selling the data it collects from its users.
It will be really helpful if you update your spyware and scan your system atleast two to four times in a week. You must also use an anti-virus ware like Norton or [tag]Avast![/tag] that will protect your PC from any further intrusion or infection.
There are several things that you will hear or read somewhere on how to protect and keep your PC safe. But there are a few main things to keep in mind whilst your surfing online.
Before you decide to download an application or a ware, always check the validity of the software and the website. Check for the reviews on reputable websites and always find out what other people are saying about it and their experiences with the website.
Always scan a download for viruses before you double click to execute it – as once you do, there’s no turning back.
Always remember to back up your data regularly, so if it does all go wrong you can at least restore your system. This is spare you from all the hard work that you did for years.
Finally, don’t give out your personal details while registering yourself to a new website. ReviewBoss suggests you to create a general profile and keep your virtual identity different from the real one, specially when you are registering yourself on a website to download a file or application.
