Journeywoman.com - All Women Travel
One of the best travel websites I have come across and passed it along to my wife.
An extensive travel magazine designed for and written by women, although men can also use the tips on travels. It gives quick access to a vast amount of well-organised, well-researched travel information, much of it provided by the local residents of travel or dream destinations, who are often professional writers.
The site is superior to others with high subscriber participation as it edits the published contributions, so that clarity and practicality reign throughout. The no-nonsense, no-drivel content is refreshing. Although the site claims to be subscription only, no payment is required.
The free newsletter gives visitors the opportunity to subscribe to the newsletter and summarises other benefits of subscription; for example, a discount on placement of classified ads, and use of the HERmail.net email system.
Gal-Friendly City Sites offers personal recommendations for hotels, restaurants, sights, shopping, and neighbourhood tours, from correspondents all over the world. The Notes and Numbers local references section is particularly strong. Although the site doesn’t cover every city in the world, it does a great job.
Travel Classifieds provides links to a huge range of quality travel opportunities for women, such as learning holidays, bookstores, Ms Biz (for travelling businesswomen), adventure holidays, international home trading, and much more.
Journey Doctor contains highly practical, well-presented and professional medical articles that are independently researched by Journeywoman Online. Subject themes include jet lag, PMS, natural remedies on the road, travel insurance, low-cal travel snacks, and emergencies.
Travel 101 gives advice and tips from professional travel writers on the top ten travel books, the top twenty-five things to put in your backpack, and more.
Women Helping Women Travel links to a free site designed especially to put women travellers in touch with one another. Its main purpose is to connect women travelling to a certain destination with women living in that area.
What Should I Wear? gives a summary of recommended clothes for specific destinations. Subscribers are invited to email in their experiences and advice for others to read.
Best Books is one of the best travel book listings ever! Independently listed and reviewed by Journeywoman, it includes good gift lists and well-written reviews. The site sells only to Canadian addresses, but visitors from other countries can still benefit greatly from the lists.
The Older Adventuress is a space for women over fifty, with links to top travel and other sites, as well as practical and philosophical notes from well-travelled adventuresses.
Her Spa Stop and Her Ecoadventures give subscribers frank and fresh personal reviews of spas and ecoadventures worldwide. The articles are well-edited and always contain the pertinent contact details for any trip.
