Vizio JV50P-High-def Plasma television

The Vizio JV50P is a high-def Plasma television that attempts to make the home theater experience easier to setup with its integrated 5.1 audio system. At a 720p resolution, and a panel supplied by LG, the Vizio’s picture quality is comparable to most mid-priced plasmas. Where the JV50P differentiates itself is by offering more features than the other offerings in this price. The biggest difference is the bundling of the wireless audio system, alongside other aspects such as flexible Picture-in-Picture options.
Features
* 50 inch display at 1366×768 resolution (720p)
* 15,000:1 contrast ratio
* Bundled with 5.1 audio system
* Integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner
* DCDi de-interlacer by Faroudja
A/V Ports
* 3 x HDMI 1.3 (with one stereo audio input for all)
* 2 x Component
* 2 x Composite
* 1 x VGA
* SPDIF optical audio IN, and OUT
* Stereo audio out
The 5.1 audio system is achieved through a combination of the built-in speakers and a bundled set. Black bevel covers the side and top of the unit, while three silver speakers responsible for left, center and right audio channels take up the bottom. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the television through a 5.8GHz frequency, but isn’t totally wireless as the woofer must be plugged into an electrical outlet, and the two accompanying satellite speakers.
Using a combination of the integrated tuner capable of handling analog and digital signals, and any of the other input sources a large suite of multi-picture options are available. The standard picture-in-picture is found, along with the ability to run the two sources side by side which is equivalent to having two 25″ televisions beside each other.
A full compliment of picture adjustments allow you to tweak the standard settings along with customizing the color temperature and other special features such as Highlight limiting. Image retention is a fear among many people about plasmas and Vizio includes a built-in “image cleaner” they claim removes any burned-in logos or gaming HUDs.
