Warning About Yahoo Shortcut!

Don’t Use Yahoo! Shortcut in Your Blog Until You Fully Read This Article
It looks like Yahoo is finally decided to hijack millions of Blog readers by offering new service to Blog owners called “Yahoo Shortcut.” Desperate Yahoo is even giving incentive to use their new service in the form of cheap T-Shirt (That’s only for the first 500 bloggers)
I request all professional bloggers NOT to fall for this new gimmick by Yahoo. It’s clear indication that Yahoo is losing their fans to high quality blogs in every niche market. Yahoo doesn’t like quality content written by professional bloggers; because Yahoo! is afraid of losing their fans forever. Yahoo wants people to read “Yahoo Answer’s” spam and crap content. That’s one of the main reasons why Yahoo doesn’t send traffic to blogs.
Just check your traffic logs and tell how many visitors your blog receives from Yahoo? 0%? 1%? 5%? You are really lucky if you getting at least 10% of your visitors from Yahoo Search.
Little about Yahoo Shortcut:
Yahoo! Shortcut (BETA) is a plugin for wordpress powered blogs where you can automatically link to various Yahoo products and services like, Flickr, Yahoo Finance, Maps, Auto and Shopping etc.
Here is how it works…
For example, let’s say that your blog entry contains the word “Britney Spears”; in this case this term will be automatically linked to display Briney Spears” picture from Flickr.
Or, your blog entry contains the word “Newyork”; in this case it will be linked to Yahoo Maps. If the word “Nintendo Wii” is found it will be linked to Yahoo shopping.
Sounds interesting!
Yahoo claims that with this service your readers experience would be enhanced. However, It’s only going to help Yahoo further.
Google is rewarding me with 1000’s of new visitors every month for my quality content and hard work. Therefore, I’m happy to send my visitors to YouTube, BlogSpot, Orkut or any other Goooge’s sites. Why should I send my traffic to Yahoo?
I banned Yahoo bot!
Today morning I’ve banned Yahoo bot from crawling a couple of my niche blogs! From the last 2-3 month Yahoo bot was visiting my blogs regularly and sent absolutely ZERO visitors while Google sent me 1000’s of visitors. If Yahoo doesn’t want to send visitors to my site then why it’s crawling it? Just to melt my bandwidth?
We always hear pathetic webmasters crying on IM forums after they got banned by Search Engines. Today I’m dancing after banning Yahoo!
Hey, we have the freedom right? If SE’s can ban us why don’t we ban them?
If you are not getting any visitors from Yahoo, then I highly recommend you to BAN Yahoo from crawling your blog… Just ban it- enjoy the freedom!
Finally…I really hate it- here is the link to Yahoo shortcut
Instead of T-shirts Yahoo should consider giving away celebrities used underwear’s- so that some CRAZY teenage guys will try Yahoo shortcut in their blog

Is there a way to “turn off” this for viewers? I view it as intrusive, and yet another annoying way to give me unwanted content and ads. If I can’t find a way to turn it off, I think I’ll avoid those who use it.

Sounds interesting! I have seen Yahoo! on some blogs and was looking forward to use it on mine as I like YPN but your post made me think. Thanks for the post. I now need to re-think about using Yahoo! Shortcut.
